Visión general
La subvención en bloque para servicios comunitarios (CSBG) se financia a través de una subvención del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos de EE. UU. Se exige que los fondos se asignen a las agencias de acción comunitaria en todo el estado. Actualmente hay 20 agencias de acción comunitaria ubicadas en todo el estado con presencia en los 67 condados.
La Ley de subvenciones en bloque para servicios comunitarios se promulgó para ayudar a las personas y familias de bajos ingresos a lograr la autosuficiencia. Los servicios proporcionados por las agencias de acción comunitaria varían según las necesidades identificadas en las áreas de servicio de la agencia. Los servicios proporcionados son para permitir que las familias / personas logren uno o más de los siguientes objetivos:
- Para asegurar y retener un empleo significativo
- Para lograr una educación adecuada
- Para hacer un mejor uso de los ingresos disponibles
- Obtener y mantener una vivienda adecuada y un entorno de vida adecuado.
- Para obtener asistencia de emergencia para satisfacer las necesidades individuales y familiares inmediatas y urgentes, incluida la necesidad de servicios de salud, nutrición, alimentos, vivienda y asistencia relacionada con el empleo.
- Eliminar obstáculos y resolver problemas que bloquean el logro de la autosuficiencia.
- Para lograr una mayor participación en los asuntos de la comunidad.
- Mejorar el desarrollo de la juventud y la familia, incluido el cuidado de niños después de la escuela y la mediación de jóvenes.
- Proporcionar una base de emergencia para la provisión de dichos suministros y servicios, alimentos nutritivos y relacionados necesarios para contrarrestar las condiciones de inanición y desnutrición entre los pobres.
Para recibir asistencia, el ingreso familiar del solicitante no debe exceder el 125% del nivel de pobreza establecido por el gobierno federal.
