El Programa de Asistencia para Climatización de Alabama recibe fondos del Departamento de Energía de EE. UU. Y del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos de EE. UU. ADECA tiene contratos con agencias de acción comunitaria local y la Comisión de Desarrollo y Planificación Regional de Alabama Central para brindar asistencia de climatización a hogares de bajos ingresos en los 67 condados del estado.
La misión es reducir los costos de energía para los hogares de bajos ingresos, en particular para los ancianos, las personas con discapacidad y las familias con niños, mejorando la eficiencia energética de sus hogares y garantizando su salud y seguridad. Para recibir asistencia, los ingresos del solicitante no deben exceder el 200% del nivel de pobreza establecido por el gobierno federal.
La asistencia de climatización de Alabama generalmente incluye mitigar la infiltración de aire exterior en el espacio acondicionado de la casa, instalar aislamiento en el ático, las paredes y el piso, sellar el trabajo de los conductos, realizar ajustes y reparaciones del sistema HVAC, reparar ventanas y puertas con fugas y / o fallas y reemplazar las incandescentes bombillas con bombillas de diodo emisor de luz (LED) de alta eficiencia. También se realizan controles de salud y seguridad en el hogar.
