When will rebates be available to the public?
ADECA anticipates that households will be able to access these rebates in mid 2025.

I am a contractor; what will I need to do?
Send an email to rebates@adeca.alabama.gov to be notified of programmatic updates and details on what is needed from contractors.
How can I be notified of future updates to the program?
Residents, contractors, retail stores, and utilities should send their name and email to rebates@adeca.alabama.gov to receive notifications for any updates to the program. Updates may include public information sessions, rule establishment, application periods, and requests for information.
Can I qualify for the rebate on my income only or do I have to report the income of everyone living in the home?
The U.S. Census Bureau includes the income of the householder and all other individuals 15 years old and over in the household, whether they are related to the householder or not.
Will I be able to pick my own appliance or material?
All appliances must be ENERGY STAR certified under the program established by section 324A of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (42 U.S.C. 6294a).
What is a “disadvantaged community”?
The U.S. Department of Energy’s working definition of disadvantaged is based on cumulative burden and includes data for thirty-six (36) burden indicators collected at the census tract level. Will I be able to file a tax credit if I cannot get a rebate?
Homeowners in the past could only get a lifetime credit, which means you could file a claim only once. Can I apply for more than one rebate if I need other work completed to my home?
Eligible entities can’t receive two rebates for the same upgrade. For instance, if they claim a HOMES Rebate program for a heat pump, they cannot claim a rebate through the HEEHR.
If a rebate was used while in a prior house I owned, if I purchase a new home, will I be able to use the rebate again?
No. Entities cannot receive rebates from both programs for the same upgrade. However, if the new home has a project for another area, it can qualify.
Does Do-It-Yourself (DIY) or allowing someone I know to complete the project qualify?
Until final guidance is issued, this cannot be determined. DOE plans to issue program guidelines in August 2023.
