Support Services

Within every strong organization is an often-unseen support system that ensures smooth and efficient daily operation. Below are the support sections that help ADECA continue its mission of improving lives throughout Alabama.

 

Communications and External Affairs

The public generally hears about the work of ADECA through the Communications and External Affairs office. CEA sends hundreds of news releases every year to announce ADECA’s grants, programs and initiatives. The section produces videos that lend a richer context to the projects ADECA funds and provide a voice to people who are directly impacted. As the primary contact for media, CEA clarifies issues related to ADECA projects, providing information to inform the public about what ADECA does. CEA stays in touch with legislators and other elected officials to keep them aware of projects in their districts. The section also maintains the ADECA website, which has a wealth of information on completed and ongoing projects and how to apply for grants and take advantage of other opportunities.

 

Information Technology

ADECA, like most organizations, relies on the support of Information Technology professionals to keep its computer systems operational and secure. Each division and section has its unique technical needs, and the IT section has developed programs and processes that meet these specific needs. The IT section comprises several subdivisions, including Infrastructure Operations, Business Solutions, Governance and Compliance and Cloud and Network Engineering.

 

Legal

The Legal section is involved in every phase of ADECA’s grant programs, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws. The legal team also monitors sessions of the Alabama Legislature for any legislation that could impact ADECA and its programs.

 

Audit

The Audit team ensures that all money awarded for projects is used for its intended purpose. It also conducts regular training sessions with grant recipients to keep them up to date on grant regulations and requirements.

 

Financial Services

The Financial Services section oversees day-to-day budgeting, purchasing, property management and payroll at ADECA. The office ensures compliance with state and federal laws and departmental policy, advises staff on expenditures and ensures that divisions stay within their budgets.

 

Human Resources

The Human Resources office assists in hiring skilled professionals to carry out the various tasks necessary for ADECA’s operation. HR helps guide employees through their careers, including identifying training for advancement in their careers and assisting retirement.
