MONTGOMERY — Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded more than $800,000 in grants to ensure victims of sexual assault have access to professional support and safety services.
“Those who have suffered sexual assault and other types of abuse deserve access to professional assistance,” Gov. Ivey said. “These agencies throughout Alabama are there to offer compassionate and caring services to help victims through their terrible ordeals.”
Gov. Ivey awarded the grants from funds provided to the state by the U.S. Department of Justice. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the awards.
“ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in support of these agencies that have the knowledge and experience to help victims, and, perhaps most importantly in these cases, to let them know they are not alone,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said.
