Gov. Ivey awards grants to assist domestic violence victims in south Alabama

MONTGOMERY – Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded nearly $329,000 to three organizations that serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in south Alabama.

“These nonprofit groups are vital resources for the communities they serve, offering safe shelter and an opportunity to heal,” Gov. Ivey said. “I commend them for giving hope to victims of these terrible crimes.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants with funds made available by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“The services these organizations provide are beneficial not only to victims, but the community at large,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in support of these agencies in their mission to improve the lives of victims and their families.”

ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, victim programs, economic development, water resource management, energy conservation and recreation.
